Every successful lifestyle blog has a general platform. I have been thinking long and hard, and have decided upon one. Something that I am extremely good at and interested in: bargain prices. I buy only top quality items, at bargain prices.
Example?
I bought all my winter long-sleeve basic tops at Nordstrom for $6.90, originally $24.
Stay tuned for ways to become a bargain shopper!

Well, now
On Tuesday, I took my Grandma shopping. She was talking to me about getting married and listening to your husband.
I told her I would never take orders from a man.
She told me "Well, then you better stay single."
I laughed.
And wanted to tell her "Too late Grandma, the excellent man I have doesn't give me orders" :)

True Beauty
What true beauty is not:
An excellent haircut
A hourglass figure
Anything related to one's outward appearance
A mean-spirited person who hurts others True Beauty is:
A kind heart
A caring personality
Doing kind deeds for others without expecting anything in return
Never intentionally hurting someone else
Standing up for yourself, but maintaining a kind manner while doing so
Kindness to the sick, weak, and poor. A person never knows what someone has been through.
True Beauty is a special glow from the inside, a kind person's true character.
What kind of person are you when no one is watching?

Quote of the Week
This totally made my day.
My little brothers, Troy (age13) and Trent (age17) came and visited me at work. Troy was extremely annoyed because:
"I just need a graph paper spiral, and all he wanted to do was come in here and check out the girls!"
I laughed.
And I was just getting off work, so they were waiting for me, and my managers were coming out of the back room. Troy was exasperated and said "Alright, let's hurry up, everyone out!"
Good thing they also have an excellent sense of humor ;)

Dallas Aquatic Center: Awkward at its finest
This last week, I took my younger sisters to the Dallas Aquatic Center, and my friend Carmen came along. We may or may not have used them as a crutch to not look so ridiculous, as we were the oldest people there by ten years. The awkward things that happened to me:
1. The old man sitting in the corner of the hot tub with a beard the length of an extra-long french fry from McDonald's. The same color too. Pretty sure there was something ALIVE in there. Plus, his stomach hair may or may not have been as long as his beard. See below image.
2. Having the Jr. Lifeguard yell at us for twisting on the slide. This is awkward on so many different levels:
a. He was 13.
b. He was standing there intently watching the slide to catch potential rule-breakers. And he would blow his whistle when someone would do something against the rules. And the actual lifeguard would ignore him. Every time. Is it horrible that I wanted to tell him to sit down and relax?
c. The fact that Carmen and I are 20 years old, and riding on a water slide.
3. The rope swing. And me not jumping out far enough, thus having the rope fall straight down. Hence making 13-year-old Jr. Lifeguard having to almost fall in to grab it as an entire line of 9-year-olds stood and watched in fascination. Plus, looking like a drowned rat while watching said 13-year-old reach for the rope. And having Jr. Lifeguard fail, and 10-year-old sister had to go out and push it towards him. Fail-fail-fail-fail. Learn the lesson kids: Swing far.
4. TOP AWKWARD MOMENT. The immense multitude of naked females over the age of 60 in the locker room, intermingled with fascinated children and their mortified mothers. I'll leave the rest to your imagination.
Overall, a fabulous trip ;) So glad I got to do something fun with my sisters and hang out with Carmen!

Originality
A person must be original. Always strive to be different from everyone else, to create a trademark that is only you. Everyone has something special and different to offer the world, it is only a matter of searching out what it is about you that is unique. It is commonly said "Imitation is flattery" but really, imitation is a sign of weakness. To be truly original is a sign of strength, belief in your own abilities as a person.
